About the Days Until Calculator
This calculator computes the difference between today and your target date. The day count uses calendar days, not business days. For business day countdowns, use the Work Days Calculator. The week count shows the decimal equivalent (14 days = 2 weeks exactly, 15 days = 2.14 weeks). The month count uses whole calendar months.
The calculator also works for past dates, showing how many days have elapsed since an event. This is useful for anniversary tracking, measuring how long ago something happened, or determining how many days into a project you are.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many days until Christmas?
Enter December 25 of the current or next year in the target date field to get an exact countdown. Christmas is 365 days away on December 26, and 1 day away on December 24. The calculator updates based on today's date each time you visit.
Can I count down to a past date?
Yes. If the target date is in the past, the calculator shows how many days have elapsed since that date, with a label indicating it is a past event. This is useful for tracking how long ago something happened, like a birthday, anniversary, or milestone.
Does the countdown include today?
If today is the target date, the result shows 0 days. The countdown counts complete days remaining. So if today is December 24 and your target is December 25, it shows 1 day.
How do I count only business days until a date?
This calculator counts all calendar days. For business day countdowns that exclude weekends, use the Work Days Calculator instead. Business day counts are often needed for contract deadlines, shipping estimates, and legal notice periods.
