How to Use the Cube Calculator

This calculator computes all key measurements of a cube from a single side length.

  1. Enter the side length. Type a positive number.
  2. View the results. Volume, surface area, space diagonal, and face diagonal update automatically.
  3. Copy or share. Use the buttons to save or share your result.

About the Cube

A cube is a regular hexahedron with six identical square faces. Volume = s^3. Surface area = 6s^2. The space diagonal (corner to opposite corner) = s * sqrt(3). The face diagonal = s * sqrt(2). Cubes are fundamental shapes in geometry and appear throughout architecture, packaging, and crystallography.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the formula for the volume of a cube?

Volume = side^3. Simply cube the side length to get the volume.

How do you find the diagonal of a cube?

The space diagonal (from one corner to the opposite corner through the interior) is side * sqrt(3). The face diagonal is side * sqrt(2).

What is the difference between a cube and a rectangular prism?

A cube has all sides equal. A rectangular prism can have three different side lengths.
