About Standard Paper Sizes
The ISO A series is defined by the ratio 1:√2 (approximately 1:1.414). Each size is exactly half the area of the next larger size. A4 folded in half becomes A5. Two A4 sheets side by side make A3. This consistent ratio means content scaled between sizes always maintains its proportions. A4 is the standard in most of the world. The United States, Canada, and Mexico use Letter (8.5x11 inches) as the default office paper size, which is close to but not identical to A4.
ISO B series sizes fall between A series sizes and are used for books, envelopes, and passports. B5 is common for books. US sizes like Tabloid (11x17) are used for newsletters and large format prints. All dimensions in this tool use the official ISO 216 standard values for A and B series, and inch-based definitions converted to mm for US and photo sizes.

What is the difference between A4 and Letter size paper?
A4 is 210x297mm (8.27x11.69 inches). US Letter is 215.9x279.4mm (8.5x11 inches). Letter is slightly wider and shorter than A4. Documents formatted for one size can get cut off or have extra white space when printed on the other. When sharing documents internationally, use PDF format to embed the page size, or confirm which size the recipient's printer uses.
How many pixels is an A4 page at 300 DPI?
A4 at 300 DPI is 2480x3508 pixels (width x height in portrait orientation). At 150 DPI it is 1240x1754 pixels. At 72 DPI (screen resolution) it is 595x842 pixels, which is why PDF export at 72 DPI looks acceptable on screen but prints at lower quality. Use 300 DPI when creating files intended for professional printing.
What paper size should I use for a booklet or pamphlet?
For a folded booklet, choose a paper size twice the final page size. An A5 booklet is printed on A4 sheets (two A5 pages per A4 sheet, front and back). A half-letter booklet prints on Letter sheets. Tabloid (11x17) is used for Letter-sized booklets. Most print shops offer imposition services to arrange pages in the correct order for binding.
What is the largest standard paper size?
A0 is the largest standard ISO A series size at 841x1189mm (33.1x46.8 inches). B0 is larger at 1000x1414mm (39.4x55.7 inches). For larger prints, wide-format printers use roll paper and non-standard cut sheets. Architectural drawing sizes (ANSI A through E) and ISO oversize formats extend beyond these standard dimensions.
